In the years following the Civil War, many people in West County attended Salem Methodist Church in an area once known as Portland, in what is now Fort Meade.
Travel was difficult in those days and a group of parishioners who lived near the Patuxent Rail Station wanted a church of their own.
Daniel D. Woodward, a local landowner, decided to help make it happen. On March 3, 1881, Mr. Woodward deeded
Established in 1882, Trinity United Methodist Church has served as a spiritual touchstone of the community for over a century.

Trinity U.M.C. has been in service to the community for well over 100 years.

The A.D. Riden General Store was once a busy bustling business. The store also housed the Woodwardville Post Office. The building was a victim of arson. The remnants of the walls and foundation remain today.
